Description:

Carbolic acid sprayer as introduced by Lister in Scotland for the first antiseptic surgical operations in the 1870s. This example was made in France probably in the 1890s complete with burner pressure vessel and safety valve etc. The glass recepticle for the carbolic acid is I assume correct. It has an early sharp pontil on the base indicating early manufacture. Transport at cost. height 7.5" (19 cm) maximum width including handle 8" (20 cm)
