Suspended magnet reflecting astatic galvanometer by Elliot Bros, London No.1190 black ebonite base; three brass levelling feet; two threaded brass terminals; circular bubble level; anodised brass standard supporting two pairs of vertical coils; magnet systems suspended at the centre of each pair; circular mirror on mica sheet positioned between two pairs of coils; removable rectangular brass case with four glazed windows; post supporting controlling magnet mounted on top. Height 19.5" (49.5 cm) base 8" (20.5 cm) square. Date 1895-1900. I think this is one of the most beautiful galvanometers ever produced by one of the finest London electrical instrument makers from the Victorian period - a "must have" in any fine collection of early electrical measuring instruments.
