Catalogue number #1627673235
Eighteeth century Flemish trepanning set of fourteen pieces comprising a signed trepanning brace (Bonneels, Brussele), lenticulars, drill, perforator, setaceum screw, double elevator, hook, three sizes of conical crown and a conical crown key, with ebony handles and contained in a fitted baise plush-lined case with a brass bound original black leather covering, brass carrying handle and catches. Date third quarter of the eighteenth century. Case size 13.5" (34.5 cm) x 9.25" (24 cm) x 1.75" (5 cm) This is a museum quality piece and a very rare complete ealy set in near perfect condition. A simlar set is illustrated on the cover of Elizabeth Bennion's book "Antique Medical Instruments". It was sold at auction subsequently at Christie's (lot 78 on 11 April 2002) for £12,925 - I think (modestly!) that the set I am offering is actually better. Further photos of higher definition or specific close-ups on request. Delivery at cost.
