Early nineteenth (or possibly late eighteenth?)century French Atwood Fall Machine signed A.Seux A Romans. Made to verify the laws of falling bodies. Finely made all apparently original thoughout. The seconds clock is wound by pulling down the teardrop counterweight. The steel rod with the brass ends releases the top weight. The cord with the white ball pulls up the top hinged shelf to support the top weight which then locks in place. The glass cover is a later addition recently made to keep the friction wheel dust free. Height 97" (246 cm) base 14" (36 cm) square. Transport free in UK or overseas at cost
