Description:

The Vulcan bomber was designed to carry Britain's nuclear bombs in the 1960s this is a gyroscope from one of them. It seems to have gyroscopes within the main gyroscope and is a beautifully engineered piece of high precision equipment that must have cost an absolute fortune to make originally. The pictures show the gyro rotated into different positions. As a piece of industrial 'sculpture' it is strangely beautiful. The ex-pilot from whom I purchased it had a second example which he had skeletonised and had on display in his house. This piece also represents the highest achievements of electronics combined with precision engineering before the advent of chip technology. Pretty immaculate. Base 15.5" (39 cm) x 10" (25 cm) height 9" (23 cm)
