Two matching Flintlock blunderbusses signed McDermot, Dublin. with brass barrels and bayonets. Both locks and spring bayonets in full working order. These were not produced 'as a pair' but were undoubtedly part of a batch of identical guns. Nevertheless to find two indentical blunderbusses is a very rare occurrance and I suspect few dealers in antique weapons have ever been able to offer pairs. I have failed to find any matching pairs offered for sale in any of the back auction catalogues I have in my reference library going back to the 1980s. Also these guns appear to be totally untouched. There is no visible sign that the barrels have ever been removed and no one has attempted any form of 'restoration'. Please note that all the screw heads are sharp and undamaged. Also the strike pans are unscratched so the guns have not been apparently used! Rust is largely surface I removed the rust over the signiture using just my thumb. The rust is a bit heavier on the bayonets. Both ramrods look like replacements otherwise the guns appear 'as sold'. Truly a rare and unrepeatable lot. These can be shipped anywhere without restriction. length 29" (74 cm)barrels 14" (15.7 cm)Date late eighteenth century Price inclusive of delivery
