Catalogue number #268812143
Exceptionally large and fine tellurian with a 'bronzed'metal body raised on six legs the clockwork mechanism turning a large and impressive 4½" globe (the largest I have ever seen on a tellurian - see last image for comparison with a 3" globe) and a 1½" wood moon. The globe is signed by J. Felkl of Prague. Boundry dates are 1830 - 1880 but as Australia is marked "Neu holland" a date prior to 1850 seems most likely. The globe is in pretty good condition, some cracks visible up close and a somewhat clumsy repair at the top ajoining the shaft (see image). The printed zodiac card missing small pieces at the edge (see image) there are also two spills of candle wax on it (which I should have removed but failed to see until after taking the photos). The base is in near pristine condition with all its original paint. This is the finest and largest tellurian I've ever offered for sale, mechanically perfect and I believe totally original. height 21.25" (51.5 cm) 31" (79 cm) overall length. Delivery at cost
