Description:

Brass horn Gramophone & Typewriter Co. top-wind gramophone of 1902 with carved oak case, record clamp, bolt break and rear speed control. Gramophone & Typewriter Concert soundbox, City Road transfer and trade plate of Tom Morton, Llandrindod, Wells. This was the only 10" top-wind "Dog Model" gramophone made by the G & T company. It is one of their rarest machines - the design changed to a side wind model in 1903. Very low serial number 16,229 on base. Condition: wood case near immaculate with original varnish. Only real defect is a partial separation of the solder joint joining the bell of the horn to the cone. This gramophone looks to be in its original untouched condition down to the last screw. I don't usually put horn gramophones on my web site as most that turn up are simply 'not good enough' - this is an exception. I will supply some 10" G & T records to play with this machine if wanted. Transport will be arranged at cost.
