Magnificent Gramme dynamo by Breguet, France Number 88. Breguet was the acknowledged master clock maker in France and the products of his business all show exceptional quality - this dynamo is no exception. It generates just over three volts DC. The serial number indicates that this is a very early mid-Victorian example. Much of the original lacquer is still extant. Although there are earlier dynamos in existence this is unquestionably a world class object of museum quality in its own right. Provenance University of London. Size wood base 9" (23 cm) x 10" (25.5 cm) full height 21.75" (55 cm) maximum width 12.75" (32.5 cm)
