Large early nineteenth century brass equinoctial compass-sundial signed on the hour ring Dolland, London. The spring-loaded gnomon with scroll support, the silvered hour dial with Roman numerals with sub-divisions for five minutes, the gnomon support with 'zig-zag' decoration, the compass with finely engraved silvered dial, level cross bubbles, the needle marked 'N' and indistinctly 'S' on pivot, the folding silvered latitude arc engraved 0º-60º The dial with three adjustable screw feet, on rear engraved with the latitudes of London, Lisbon, Ostend, Glasgow, Norwich, Paris, Dublin, Dantzick and Exeter. All silvering and glass over dial original. Most original lacquor present and in fair but not perfect condition. All screws original with spot numbering - no repairs, hour ring diameter 113 mm, overall external diameter 156 mm. In all a good original piece by a top London maker.
