Opaque microscope slide of Protozoa - Group of Polycistina prepared by Clarke & Page, London, enclosed in a velvet lined leather covered case. This is quite a microscope slide to the naked eye it looks like a snowflake but under microscopic magnification it is truly amazing. I have never come across a single slide in its own presentation case before and 'had' to buy it. I note the price of the slide in ink is ten shillings or half a pound sterling a truly huge price to charge for a single microscope slide over a hundred years ago. Put in context this price was then more than a week's wages for an average agricultural labourer.
