Lord Kelvin's Electric balance for currents up to 2500 amps. This was the largest (and rarest) of all the electric balance models produced to handle different levels of electric current. This form of the Thomson standard electric balance dates from 1887. The number 395 on this model indicates a date 1898/9. Massive brass, copper, slate, aluminium and wood construction: this is quite something else compared to the usual models. 21" (51 cm) x 10.75 (27.5 cm)height 8" (20 cm).
