Ernst Schotte Orrery or Planetarium
Orrery by Ernst Schotte & Co Berlin W.Geaographisch Artistische Anstalt made in brass and copper with a decorated iron base and paper label. Every part down to the last moon and screw seems to be totally original (except for the red felt base which can be easily removed if it offends). Mechanically perfect; note the tiny lantern pinions used to turn the outer most planets which move (as in life) very, very slowly compared to the inner planets. Only real defect is some foxing on the paper label which seems worse (to me!) in the photos than in reality - some may disagree. A seriously rare item Ernst Schotte & Co's boundry dates are 1867-1900. 16" (41 cm) high, 18" (46 cm) longest arm. Delivery at cost.
