Rare animal slaughterman's sliderule
Rare sliderule made of boxwood with a bone slide and brass endsmade by J.Tree 22 Charlotte St Blackers Rd London. labeled "The Cattle Gague & Key to the Weighing Machine arranged by J.Ewart Newcastle on Tyne. This rule was work out the different quantities of lean and fat meat from the weight and length and girth of "Oxen,Sheep,Swine and Heifers" from both live and carcass weights. This has to be a very rare type of sliderule, I've never seen another like it and neither has anyone that I've asked. I would be delighted to have more information about it and would welcome emails. Double sided both sides shown in the photos.9" length. I think this rule probably dates from the first half of the 19th century. price includes carriage.
