Dieppe Model of an Armed Paddle Steamer c. 1835
Dieppe model of an armed paddle steamer circa 1835. Made very unusually in elephant ivory. This is possibly a unique contemporary example. No similar examples are known to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich or illustrated in any of the standard reference books. Partially re-rigged, mounted on a new bone and horn stand in a modern case. Length 16in (40.5cm) Height (keel to top mast) 9in (23cm) Width across paddles 3.5in (9cm). Documentation is in place to apply for a CITES certificate should the country of export require it.
