Edison Dynamo working model
Fine quality working model of the original Type II dynamo designed by Thomas Edison in 1883 complete with bound a lacquered coils, field switch. Drum armature with inside4 pulley and movable sprung copper gauze brush gear. The machine produces 12 volts, 6 amps, at 2,400 r.p.m. driven clockwise looking at the pulley-end. Tested for continuous operation. Finished in maroon, polished brightwork and varnished oak plinth. Built by C. A. Holt circa 1930 One of these original Edison Dynamos is preserved at the Ford museum in the USA. 16in. x 9.5in. (41cm x 24cm)
