A split lens dynameter by John Browning, London diameter 1.675" (42 mm) excluding side arm. The split lens dynameter was invented by Jesse Ramsden and is used to determine the magnifying power of telescopes. he micrometre is on the side of this instrument and automatically advances or retards the top counter for every revolution of the large scale. A beautifully made precision instrument of the mid Victorian era. Not common.
