Aidie pocket barometer
Pocket barometer by Aidie & Son, Edinburgh gilded with white enamel dial and rotatable bezzel to indicate previous barometric reading. The firm of Aidie & son was formed in 1835 it became Aidie & Wedderburn in 1881 so this barometer was made prior to this latter date making it a very early pocket barometer.The Aidies are considered Scotland's finest scientific instrument makers of the Victorian period. The instrument is in good working order but the gilding is in poor condition, mostly worn off nevertheless this an early piece by famous makers. Diameter 50 mm pre 1881
