Massive Key
This is (I think) the largest key I've ever offered for sale. It is French eighteenth or nineteenth century made in steel. The purpose of very large keys is to increase security in certain applications (e.g. in jails - where the finding of suitable material to make and conceal a copy would be very difficult) also for very heavy doors (castles, cathederals etc.) where small delicate locks would be less secure where the fit of the door might not be precise. I show a typical modern door key for size comparison in the photo in fact this key fits within the bow of the large key. Length 10.25" (257 mm) weight 536 grams
